OSS News

This issue lists all the changes made to the Retrieval program over the past several months.  In the future, when any Retrieval enhancements are made, they will be distributed via this forum as soon as they are implemented.

Program Enhancements

  • The screen colors have been lightened slightly.
  • A First Name field has been added to the Retrieval criteria screen.  I'm sure everyone has gotten used to this by now!
  • To highlight multiple individual instruments on the search results screen, hold the control key while clicking the mouse.

  • To highlight a range of instruments, click on the first instrument, hold the shift key and then click on the last instrument in the range.
  • Minimum consideration is now a standard criteria field.  This field is typically used to find all deeds or mortgages over a certain amount of consideration.  Not all counties enter a consideration.
  • Comments no longer flash red for instruments recorded prior to when Landex was installed in your county.
  • Instrument type and municipality lists are back to searching by word, not letter .

  • The % key has always been used as the wildcard character in Retrieval.  Now the * (asterisk) and the % may be used interchangeably.  Either one will work.
  • The wheel on the mouse now works in all lists and tables on all Retrieval screens.
  • Everyone is already used to pressing Alt and the plus sign to enlarge the image.  Now the mouse may be used to click and drag to enlarge a portion of the image.  Simply draw a rectangle around the area to be enlarged.  Click on Page Up or Page Down to return the page to normal size.
  • A report may now be printed if names are entered and there are no matching entries.  A message always appeared stating No Names Found.  Now a message appears asking to redo the search or print the criteria entered.  This will help to prove there were no names matching what they entered on a certain date and time.

  • In addition to the name, the file number will now also be visible for sealed instruments.
  • A range of instrument numbers may now be searched.  Click on the Range button next to Instrument # or press F9.

Enter the first number in the range and the last number in the range and click on Search or press F12.

  • The sort order of the instrument types has been fixed.  If there were multiple instruments with similar names, they were in reverse order.
  • Fixed reference/notation problem - if there were two instruments with the same type, book and page, the system referenced both instruments.  Now the program utilizes the instrument number, not book and page; therefore the correct instrument will be referenced.
  • When jumping forward to a notation (F2) and then jumping back to the original instrument (Shift+F2), the notation list will stay open to be able to jump to the next notation.
